Lighter Weight Oven Belts Reduce Annual Energy Costs

Ten to twenty percent (10-20%) of the energy consumed by a baking oven is used to heat and re-heat the baking belt. The product itself generally requires about 30-40% of the oven heat. Oven losses and heating of make-up air account for the remaining energy used by a baking oven.

Heavier weight oven belts require more energy to heat and re-heat than lighter oven belts. The type of oven belt for a baking process impacts the annual energy cost of operating a baking oven. Using a lighter weight CB3 belt, instead of the more common CB5 belt, reduces the amount of energy wasted on heating and re-heating the belt, therefore saving you money.
